Indepth: Possible Focus - Programming

I have been programming since i was 16, QBasic and Visual Basic 5. The first program i ever built was a VB 2-player game based off of Monopoly that ended up allowing you to hold enter and fly thru every prompt without any interruption (yay for default button)

These days I rock a Bachelors of Technology in Computer Information Systems (a few courses short of Bach. of Computer Science). I program in C# and ASP.NET (basically .NET 2.5 Programming).

Been out of school for 2 years this April, got my first job working as a Programmer which is great. Its fun stuf.

The main focus of most of my programs have been Head-Up information screens, Electronic Data Interchange apps and Order Management software.

Indepth: Possible Focus - PC Gaming

Every few years i dump a bucket full of 5 dollar bills into the great retail machine and build myself a computer and Its almost time again to get a new one.

With owning an Xbox i have found that i rarely play PC Games except for MMOs. Having just recovered from a slight WOW Addiction, i jumped knee-deep back into EVE-Online.

The only other games i found to be worth-while playing on PC when compared to Console is RTSes (EndWar excepted, man Voice-Activated control mechanism for Xbox is awesome!)

Another Recent Game, that i subsequently got all my friends addicted to was SPORE. Great concept and execution, i still haven't finished the game, i am too busy exploring and quelling war-declarations to really quest properly.

FPSes i find better with a controller, now i have played COD1 and FEAR on my PC and i played COD4 and (finished) FEAR on my console. With the exception of the awesomeness of getting in the zone in COD1 and Unreal (suck energy blasts noob) for PC, I find that you are surgical when everyone is reduced to a Controller.

One game i wish i discovered back when computers were older was System Shock 2, I hear so much about it but i'll be damned if i can get it to run on Vista Ultimate.

Some older fun games had to have been Duke Nukem 3D, Uplink and Tie-Fighter (rocking the logitech wingman joystick).

Nowadays i don't see the PC being a viable gaming platform with the exception of MMOs because MMOing on a console is just messed up.

- XFX 6800GS Video Card
- MSI MI-3185 Motherboard
- 2x 250GB SATA Western Digital
- Logitech G11 Gaming Keybaord
- Windows Vista Ultimate (participated in that Mircosoft program where they monitored your computer for 3 months and sent you a copy of vista ultimate)

Xbox Gaming

So i am a big xbox gamer, Xbox Live Gamertag: 'Grim Notepad' (yes with the space there), well not as big as my roomate, but i have accrrued 17k+ Gamerscore (points from completing special objectives in games) over that last 3 years.
I have played just about every big game that has been released, I still have yet to play Prince of Persia, Call of Duty 5 and Fable 2.

I like to play games not the same way alot of reviewers do where they nitpick about every little detail, or fanboy over something and cry when its not right. I play to enjoy as they are designed to be. I am not Pro-Gamer-Awesome but i can beat more then the average game on Hard.

Every tuesday i am down at the local EB Games (or Gamestop as its called in the US), checking out new releases. and waiting for them to come to the used rack to pick up for ~15 cheaper than retail (thats right i buy used, so what :P).

Possible Foci

I like that word, foci, makes you sound all hawty-tawty, but i digress..isn't that the purpose of a blog to just run around in blind circles fall down wherever and go "hey look at me, i created this!"

hmm...i dunno if i like the black theme, now don't get me wrong i love the color black, and red, and green and others (i have an odd disdain for any blue 'xcept Dark/Navy blue) but this theme seems too myspaceish too ghah~!, but another issue for another time

So wayyyy back in the day i used this site called livejournal, but that got old, or rather i stopped blogging.
But i figure heck, why not try again.

Now I have read coutless other blogs and many "how-tos" to know that i need a focus to get an audience. Well that might take a few posts so we'll see what i come up with.
